New Year greeting
Best wishes for the New Year , we know 2012 will be a great year for all and we appreciate your continued loyalty and custom. Our thoughts go out to our Christchurch friends, family and customers who again had a tough time over the holiday breaks.
Export Peak season
The export peak season for fresh fruit is in full swing and the advice from all Shipping Lines is to get bookings in early and confirmed to avoid disappointment. Space is at a premium and we have rolled two export bookings since Christmas due to vessels heading to Asia over booked with fruit/produce.
Ports of Auckland strikes
The Industrial action at Ports of Auckland continues with the next 48hr strike planned for 2230 Mon Jan 9th until 2230 Wed Jan 11th. The port is running restricted services and VBS bookings for Fergusson and Bledisloe terminals during this time using non-union staff. There is another mediation meeting planned for Thurs 12th Jan and we believe a resolution is close. To continue with industrial action will cost the workers in the long term as with the news of Maersk Southern Star service moved to Tauranga last month and now Fonterra moving from end of January to Tauranga / Napier. The port must maintain its service integrity to retain major contracts and Shipping Lines.
Imports options from Asia
Please note with the new import service from south east Asia with CMA CGN and ANL we can now offer more choices to match the transit and freight costs required. We have found more customers rotating the services based on urgency of cargo with alternate fast and slow transits to save freight costs – generally we can save 300USD 20’ and 650 USD 40’ between transits. Please call for further details and we can look into your options.
