Ports of Auckland has announced that it will now re-enter negotiations with
the Union based on a good faith agreement reached after a Judicial
Settlement Conference yesterday in which the Judge urged both parties to
give it one more shot. The Port has put on hold plans for the redundancies
and employing Stevedore contractors.

The Union is meeting today to discuss returning to work and halting current
strikes.

We envisage the Union workers returning to the port during this process
which will improve the current crisis, but acknowledge that both parties
need to concede terms considerably to get closer to an agreement.
